Andaluz de Arion
             About Us
Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in
West-Central Pennsylvania, Andaluz de Arion is located
in the heart of Amish country. In this rural community,
horses are still a way of life. Horses and buggies travel
these roads on a daily basis and life moves a little more
slowly than it does in the outside world.

In this idyllic environment for horses and people, Arion is
dedicated to producing just a few very fine Spanish
Andalusian Horses. Our breeding program is based on
the stallion, Cresswood Eytano (Cresswood Traveler x
Banbury Evita), bred by Lucy Cress of Cresswood
Stables from pure Banbury stock.

Our goal is to produce a few superb modern dressage
Andalusians without losing the old Baroque type or
gaining excessive size. The Capitan XIII/Leviton nick,
combined with 2 crossings to Temerario V, sire of USDF
champion Temerario VII, on the distaff side, is producing
stunning movement for the modern dressage competition
without losing t
he "classical" horse, close coupled, athletic,
proud, and of a most tractable temperament.

We are dedicated to preserving in small part the Baroque
Spanish Horse, the horse deemed "the lovingest and
gentlest horse and fitingest of all for a King to ride in a
day of triumph" (Duke of Newcastle 1667).
